FreeBilingual Kid’s Story Time with Fabienne Doucet – Call and Response Books
Author and early education expert Fabienne Doucet will be at Call & Response Books on Saturday, December 7 at 2:30 p.m. to read her latest children’s book, Love is Still Winning/El Amor Siempre Triunfa! This book is in both English and Spanish, a great bilingual read for children who are learning how to navigate sometimes difficult circumstances with positivity.
When a little one sees their parents overwhelmed with the aftermath of distressing news, they remind themselves of the love that still shines through, and all the ways love is showcased in the simplest of actions that we often overlook. Whether helping a neighbor or reminiscing the beauty of a sunset with a loved one, love triumphs all. This inspiring picture book will encourage your little ones to practice seeing the good that exists all around us.
Born in Spain, raised in Haiti, and migrating to the U.S. at the age of ten, Fabienne Doucet (she/her) is the author of the bilingual picture book Love is Still Winning/El Amor Siempre Triunfa (Lil’ Libros). An avid reader, writer, karaoke queen, and lifelong dancer, Fabienne writes stories that celebrate the lives and experiences of racially, linguistically, and culturally diverse children and families. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. When not writing stories for young children or practicing her salsa moves, Fabienne is Executive Director of the NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools and Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She lives in New York city with her husband and their two amazing teenagers who are growing up way too fast.
