First Monday Jazz with Chuck Webb & Guru Tonic

To celebrate 10 years of First Monday Jazz, Arts + Public Life audiences will be treated to a year of live jazz performances.

CHUCK WEBB, bassist, writer, producer, music director and educator has performed and recorded with legendary artists such as Aretha Franklin, Grover Washington Jr., Ramsey Lewis, Bill Withers, David Sanborn, Al DiMeola, Freddie Hubbard, Lalah Hathaway, and many others. As a first call studio musician with over 30 years experience, Chuck has performed on hundreds of records, commercial jingles, sound tracks and theater productions including Hamilton, Wicked, Jersey Boys and Motown the Musical and at the Lyric Opera. Chuck is an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago and the owner of Earth Tone Enterprises production company through which he has produced and composed scores for motion pictures, educational programs, popular music CDs and his own solo and band projects. Chuck is a member of the National Federation of Musicians and the National Educators Association.

Chuck began his musical studies on the violin at age seven. By the time he reached high school he was skilled on clarinet, bass clarinet, piano, and his main instruments the electric and acoustic basses. He has studied at the Chicago Conservatory College and received his music degree from the University of Miami.

GURU TONIC is Chuck Webb’s exciting new band. Featuring Linard Stroud on drums, Tim Fitzgerald on guitar, Tom Vaitsas on keyboards and Chuck on electric and acoustic bass, Guru Tonic blends jazz, soul, funk and fusion music into a unique sonic experience that is sure to excite all lovers of creative music.
