Neighborhood Skates – Free Skateboarding Lessons

Neighborhood Skates expands skateboarding access on Chicago’s South Side through free, inclusive, year-round programming and community infrastructure improvements. We use skateboarding as a tool for confidence, creative expression, and belonging.

We hold free youth sessions in our indoor skatepark at the University of Chicago campus every Sunday, 12-2 PM, from January 11 – March 1.

Our sessions are best suited for youth ages 7-12 just starting out in skateboarding.

Helmets and wrist guards are required. We will have skateboards, helmets, wrist guards, knee pads, and elbow pads available to borrow for free.

In order to participate in our youth sessions, you must book a session and fill out our Youth Participation Registration Form.
