SUMMARY:Book Talk: Our Vicious Oaths with N.E. Davenport
DESCRIPTION:Book Talk: Our Vicious Oaths with N.E. Davenport \nJoin us on Thursday\, November 20 at 7 pm in celebration of Nia “N.E.” Davenport’s latest romantasy release\, Our Vicious Oaths! Nia will be joined in conversation by Michael LaBorn\, and conversation will be followed by a meet & greet and book signing! \n“An instant romantasy classic!” — Katee Robert\, New York Times bestselling author \nEnter a new world of romantic fantasy from award-winning author N.E. Davenport—a journey of powerful magic\, enemies-to-lovers\, and political intrigue—as a warrior-princess and a vengeful king from rival fae courts form a fierce alliance to take down a merciless despot. \nPrincess of the Aether Dominion\, Kadeesha wants nothing to do with fae politics. She is a warrior\, first and foremost\, and believes her greatest strength is leading her squadron of elite winged serpent flyers to protect her homeland. But bound since infancy to be betrothed to the Hyperion High King\, ruler of all Dominions\, she has no choice but to do what men have chosen for her. \nRepulsed by the idea\, she decides to spend one last night of freedom—in the arms of a dangerous stranger who takes her to sexual heights she’s never experienced before…but who is only using Kadeesha to set a trap for the High King. \nFor the High King and the kings of his six Dominions were responsible for the decimation of the Apollyon Court\, and its new king\, Malachi\, wants his pounds of flesh. \nOn Kadeesha’s wedding day\, Malachi and his special forces attack. Her father is killed\, and Malachi wounds the High King\, ultimately taking Kadeesha as hostage back to his land. \nBut she is no true hostage. The two form a pact: she will help lure the High King so Malachi can kill him once and for all\, and he in turn will not harm Kadeesha or the Aether people. And as much as Kadeesha hates politics\, she is now the Queen of her folk. Fae bonds are unbreakable…and so\, perhaps\, is the attraction Kadeesha and Malachi feel for each other. For even as they must publicly display their connection to provoke the High King’s jealousy\, they struggle to resist the powerful allure between them in order to achieve their ultimate goals. \nNia “N.E.” Davenport is an award-winning Science Fiction/Fantasy author who writes stories that blend magic\, mayhem\, and deadly heroines. She attended the University of Southern California and studied Biological Sciences and Theatre Arts. She also has an M.A. in Secondary Education. She teaches English and Biology to amazing students. When she isn’t writing\, she enjoys vacationing with her family\, skiing\, and being a huge foodie. She’s an advocate for diverse perspectives and protagonists in literature. You can find her on Twitter @nia_davenport\, or on Instagram @nia.davenport\, where she talks about binge-worthy TV\, killer movies\, and great books. She lives in Texas with her husband and kids. \nMichael LaBorn is the founder of Left Unread Books\, an imprint under Bindery Books\, where he advocates to disrupt the publishing industry on behalf of authors of color in search of somewhere for their voices to be heard. Additionally\, he is a bookish influencer who uses his platform to advocate for authors in the margins and to challenge systemic barriers in the industry.

SUMMARY:The Taming of the Shrew
DESCRIPTION:The Taming of the Shrew \nWelcome to a tale of deception\, disguise\, and desire.\n \nThe richest man in town has two daughters and one big problem: he refuses to marry the youngest\, Bianca\, until the eldest\, Katherina\, is married first. Much to her family’s dismay\, Katherina repeatedly – and violently – rejects the men interested in her and her wealth\, and refuses to sacrifice her independence. When a mysterious gentleman enters the mix\, suddenly Kate sees that surrender is no sacrifice. Perhaps there is strength in submission.\n \nArtistic Director of Remy Bumppo Theatre Company Marti Lyons (Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner) turns William Shakespeare’s classic inside out\, with a fresh interpretation focused on feminine desire. This is not your standard Shrew.\n \nPlease Note: This adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew engages with mature themes—including desire\, sexuality\, and power dynamics.\n \nAccessible Performances:\n\n\nASL Interpretation: Saturday\, December 6 at 2:00pm\nTouch Tour: Sunday\, December 7 at 12:30pm\nAudio Description and Open Captioning: Sunday\, December 7 at 2:00pm
