SUMMARY:Out Here
DESCRIPTION:Out Here \nLife happens outside of your comfort zone. Out Here is a world-premiere musical\, a thrilling collaboration between Court Theatre and the University of Chicago\, and an intimate look at a family reconfiguring itself and rediscovering joy. \nDawn has a house\, a husband\, and a family\, but she wants more. She wants her ex-girlfriend\, Robin. She wants nothing to change and she wants everything to change\, and she wants it all on her own terms. As she’s caught between what’s been and what’s next\, Dawn must learn to abandon expectations\, harmonize with loved ones\, and trust the process. If she can do all that\, she might just learn a new song. Strikingly original and unabashedly queer\, Out Here explores the freedom of relinquishing control\, and how\, sometimes\, you have to break something apart to create something better. \nAcclaimed director Chay Yew makes his Court directorial debut with this charming and bold coming-of-age story\, bringing the 2025/26 season to a jubilant conclusion. \nAccessible Performances: \n\nTouch Tour: Saturday\, May 2 at 12:30pm\nAudio Description and ASL Interpretation: Saturday\, May 2 at 2:00pm\nOpen Captioning: Sunday\, May 3 at 2:00pm

SUMMARY:What Happened To Icarus Book Launch - SOPHY Hotel
DESCRIPTION:What Happened To Icarus Book Launch – SOPHY Hotel \nPlease join local author Thedore Richards to celebrate the release of his next book\, “What Happened to Icarus\,” at the SOPHY Hotel at 1411 E. 53rd Street on Sunday\, May 3\, from 4-6 p.m. \n\nFree event; food and drink available at the bar; books for sale. \nAbout the book: Ours is undeniably a world on fire. The seas are rising\, forests burn\, geopolitical strife accelerates\, and our inner lives are increasingly unmoored\, in collapse. Many of us no longer know our place in this world. Like Icarus\, we are in free fall. Tracing the author’s travels through some of the most despairing\, remote\, and beautiful regions of the Earth\, What Happened to Icarus is both a call to action and a call to remember — to remember who we are\, so that we may fall in love with the world again\, even as we despair in our descent. \nAbout the author: Theodore Richards (he/him) is a writer\, philosopher\, educator\, and the founder of the Chicago Wisdom Project. He has received numerous literary awards\, including three Independent Publisher Awards and two Nautilus Book Awards. What Happened to Icarus is his ninth book. He lives on the south side of Chicago with his wife and three daughters. You can find out more about him and his work at www.theodorerichards.com.
