DESCRIPTION:The Hyde Park Kenwood Food Pantry\nThe food pantry\, located at Hyde Park Union Church\, provides nonperishable groceries and limited refrigerated and frozen foods to 500 to 800 people every month on Saturdays from 10 am to 1 pm. \nWe serve the area of 39th – 63rd St.\, Cottage Grove east to Lake Michigan\, and patrons can come twice a month. All will be served on their first visit\, regardless of residency. If you are looking for food outside of our service area or hours\, you can visit the website of the Greater Chicago Food depository to find additional services.\n​\nVolunteers order food\, unload deliveries\, pre-pack bags and distribute food. ​If you would like to volunteer\, please contact the Church Office or Margy Mitchell\, the Food Pantry coordinator. \nTime and Location \nEvery Saturday (including Christmas\, New Year’s Day\, and July 4th) from 10 am to 1 pm; \nHyde Park Union Church\n5600 S. The Monastery of the Holy Cross and Schola Laudis are in their fifteenth year of Solemn Choral Vespers\, featuring the masterworks of Renaissance polyphony and traditional Gregorian chant\, adapted to the contemporary liturgy conducted by Kevin Allen. We invite you to join us for this hidden treasure in the city in our “architecturally significant and acoustically excellent” Monastery church each month. DESCRIPTION:Vulnerability as Legacy \nThe songs that last — Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own\,” Beyoncé’s “Love On Top\,” Mariah Carey’s “Fly Like a Bird\,” Raye’s recent “I Know You’re Hurting” — share something essential: they are honest to the point of discomfort. They reveal longing\, desperation\, and loneliness without the usual sheen of celebrity protection. Featuring a live DJ set\, interactive stations\, a panel discussion\, and an after-event dance party\, this program explores why vulnerability in song is not just an artistic choice but the mechanism by which art lasts and legacy is born. \nThis program curated and hosted by Britt Julious\, 2023 Chicago Critics Table Cohort member. \nThis is part of a series of public programs co-designed between Chicago Critics Table alumni and the APL team to provide more public access to the deeper critical conversations our critics are having.
