SUMMARY:3 Shades of Blues - Diunna Greenleaf\, Nora Jean Wallace\, and Precious Taylor
DESCRIPTION:3 Shades of Blues – Diunna Greenleaf\, Nora Jean Wallace\, and Precious Taylor \nThree singular voices. One night of soul-shaking solos\, storytelling\, and sisterhood. \nDiunna Greenleaf is a Texas-born vocalist and two-time Blues Music Award winner\, known for her powerful blend of gospel\, jazz\, and blues. A living blues legend\, Diunna’s career has spanned across global stages\, from the Lugano Blues Festival to the Cahors Blues Festival in France. Precious Taylor\, born and raised in Chicago\, is a five-octave vocal chameleon with roots in opera\, jazz\, and gospel. She’s performed everywhere from the Vatican to the Chicago Theatre\, and inherited the fire of her aunt\, Koko Taylor. Nora Jean Wallace brings the sounds of the Delta to Chicago. Raised on juke joint anthems and church harmonies\, she delivers the kind of blues that’s lived\, not learned—weathered\, worn\, and wild with life. \nSupported by the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation.

SUMMARY:Battle Boo Bakery
DESCRIPTION:Battle Boo Bakery \nMeet your “Battle Boo” before Valentine’s Day through games\, teamwork\, and real connection at a Black veteran–owned bakery. \nBattle Boo Bakery is an intentional Valentine’s experience in celebration of Black History Month and in alignment with the Black Veterans Expo mission to help people discover and invest in Black veteran–owned businesses. \nHosted inside Strugglebeard Bakery\, this night brings together singles from the military\, veteran\, and Chicagoland communities who care about how they show up\, where their money goes\, and finding love. \nInstead of awkward small talk\, you’ll pair up for competition-based activities like karaoke\, card games\, and portrait drawing. These are designed to reveal how you would communicate and move as a team if things were to grow—because relationships are built on teamwork. \nThree crowd-favorite pairs will receive a $50 first-date tab at a Black veteran–owned restaurant of their choice. That is our investment into you and the black veteran-owned businesses we serve. Whether you leave with a Battle Boo\, a Battle Buddy (a new friend)\, or just more clarity about what you want\, you’ll walk away having shown up with intention. \nCome connect.\nCompete.\nAnd maybe become one of the top three couples. \nBattle Boo Bakery \nStrugglebeard Bakery \n5221 S. Harper Ct\, Chicago\, IL 60615 \nFebruary 12 | 6–8 PM \nDoors open at 5 PM for early arrivals \nRSVP required via Eventbrite. \n21+.
