SUMMARY:Big White Fog
DESCRIPTION:Big White Fog \nTheodore Ward’s Big White Fog is the big shoulders on which A Raisin in the Sun stands. First completed in 1938\, funded by the Federal Theatre Project\, and influenced by the South Side Writers Group that cultivated such iconic talents as Richard Wright and Margaret Walker\, Big White Fog drove American realism forward by contending with discontent. \nThe United States is on the cusp of the Great Depression and\, like many\, the Mason family is struggling. Between the precarious economy and racial violence on Chicago’s segregated South Side\, something’s got to give. As different generations strive to secure the Mason family’s future\, catastrophic decisions are made\, leading to a heartbreaking twist and a blistering condemnation of America’s Big White Fog. \nCourt Theatre Resident Artist and the nation’s preeminent director of August Wilson\, Ron OJ Parson\, opens the 2025/26 season with this rich portrayal of Black life on Chicago’s South Side. \nAccessible Performances: \n\nTouch Tour: Saturday\, October 4 at 12:30pm\nAudio Description and ASL Interpretation: Saturday\, October 4 at 2:00pm\nOpen Captioning: Sunday\, October 5 at at 2:00pm\n\nArtwork by Ed Watkins.

SUMMARY:Sullivan Fortner & His Galactic Friends
DESCRIPTION:Sullivan Fortner & His Galactic Friends \nSullivan Fortner doesn’t just play piano—he bends it to his will. This GRAMMY-winning musical shape-shifter merges New Orleans grit with fearless invention\, twisting jazz traditions into something raw and urgent. No pretense\, no safety nets—just firebrand jazz at its most alive. \nSupported by the Logan Center Jazz Forever Fund\, a gift of the Revada Foundation and the Harve A. Ferrill Concert Fund. Presented in partnership with Chicago Jazz Magazine\, DownBeat\, Jazz Institute of Chicago\, and WDCB 90.9 FM.

SUMMARY:Learning to Spin Yarn with a Drop Spindle
DESCRIPTION:Learning to Spin Yarn with a Drop Spindle \nExplore the wonderful practice of spinning yarn and discover why Rumpelstiltskin was such a compelling fairy tale for so long as we turn wool fluff into usable yarn to knit\, crochet\, or weave. We will talk about yarn-i-tecture\, or the various properties of fiber materials most commonly spun including various wools\, silks\, cotton\, and flax as well as the evolution and environmental impact of fiber production. All materials will be provided. \nLevel:  Beginner. No prior experience needed. \nPre-requisites: Ages 12+. \nMeet your instructor \nThe workshop is taught by artist and designer Maggie Leininger who currently teaches at the Art School at DePaul University and is the owner of Considered Cloth\, a retail outlet for unique luxury yarn\, hand painted yarns\, weaving kits\, equipment\, and instruction\, as well as one-of-a-kind handwovens. Maggie was formerly a professor at Arizona State University where she instructed graduate and \nundergraduate students in weaving for art and design. Former design experiences include production weaving for a number of established interior designers prior to dedicating her focus on her own unique handwoven goods. \nWebsite for Considered Cloth: www.considered-cloth.com \nWebsite for Maggie Leininger: www.maggieleiningerart.com \nIG accounts: @maggieleiningerartist @consideredcloth
