My name is Tina Miklas, and I am an enthusiastic knitter and yarn lover based on the South Side of Chicago. My knitting journey began in the 90s when I was introduced to knitting by a small shop in Oak Park, Illinois. Since then, knitting has been a constant source of joy and creativity in my life.

Born and raised on Chicago’s South Side, I am fully aware of the lack of services, resources, and commerce on my side of town. I am determined to provide fiber fun for underserved South Side fiber lovers compared to the city’s North Side.

After moving to the Hyde Park neighborhood in 2015, I started a craft meetup called Fiber Friends Studios to meet new people and expand my fiber network. Little did I know how much joy it would bring me to organize meetups and help others begin their knitting journey. It has since become my passion and has inspired me to give back to our South Side community in a unique way by creating events that bring the yarn directly to our neighborhoods. These events have included yarn tasting events, where we explore different types of yarn and their qualities, and pop-up shops, where we sell a variety of yarn and knitting supplies!
