Chef Thai Dang’s Café Phê Dá Vietnamese Café at Quantum Café is slated to open on September 12 inside the Eckhardt Research Center at 5640 S. Ellis Ave. The eatery specializes in Vietnamese street food, showcasing fan favorites pho and papaya salad, and specialty coffee drinks like vanilla egg custard coffee and Ca Phe Sua Dam, a hand press string brew black Vietnamese coffee.

Dang, a three-time James Beard Award semifinalist, is the owner of HaiSous Vietnamese Kitchen in Pilsen.

“Being able to serve such a prestigious campus like the University of Chicago is truly a dream come true,” Dang said. “To provide the students, faculty, staff, and the Hyde Park community with my food is near and dear to my heart.”
